Adam Petty, MSPC, MM, LPC, CET II
I help teens and young adults who are struggling with trauma, dissociation, lack of focus, emotional overwhelm, and relational conflict move toward foundation, stability, and the ability to walk through life with presence and confidence. I also support families who are trying to understand how these challenges developed and how healing can begin.
My approach is trauma-informed, family-oriented, and culturally-sensitive. I integrate EMDR, parts work, IFS-informed perspectives, and Experiential Therapy methods that engage both mind and body. Therapy with me is core focused, intuitive, creative, and actionable. We look beneath surface symptoms to identify the deeper patterns keeping you stuck, then build practical and meaningful ways forward.
I came to this work because I was searching for my own answers. There was a time when life felt hollow, and I didn’t know how to look for myself, or even where to begin. Creativity helped me stay with the questions long enough to face them honestly. Experiential Therapy and EMDR work helped me find direction. Over time, I learned that while insight matters, real change comes through doing the work. I bring that lived understanding into therapy with warmth, clarity, and solidity.
A core part of my philosophy is that inspired creativity can unlock healing. Many people are told to find purpose without ever being guided through the creative process that makes purpose discoverable. I help clients reconnect with intuition, emotion, and embodied awareness so they can build a life that feels real—not just functional.
I have been in practice for 10 years and am a Certified Experiential Therapist II with ongoing EMDR training. I have also presented internationally through IAGP, including:
- IAGP Congress 2022 (Pescara, Italy): Somatic Health Through Sound Awareness
- IAGP 5th Regional Mediterranean Conference for Trauma and Disaster (Theme: Collective Trauma and Group: Transforming Individual Suffering): Journey to Connection — presentation on depth processing through environmental awareness
- 22nd IAGP International Congress (Sapporo, Japan, August 20–23, 2025) (Theme: Groups and Global Crises: Challenges for People, Organizations, and Societies): Improvisation as a Key to Therapeutic Resilience and Growth
Before becoming a therapist, I built a career in music. I hold a Master of Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, won competitions, and performed with ensembles including the Haddonfield Symphony, Columbus Symphony, and members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. I have also performed with artists such as James Taylor, Itzhak Perlman, and Yo-Yo Ma. This background deeply informs the way I listen, attune, and work with rhythm, nervous system regulation, and creative expression in therapy.
I offer in-person, virtual, and hybrid sessions in Tempe, AZ, including individual therapy, group work, and intensives. I am private pay, accept HSA/FSA, and can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
I hold particular sensitivity for survivors of childhood sexual abuse. My work in this area is informed by both deep clinical experience and personal recovery work that has reached a stable and successful place. Clients often tell me they feel understood quickly and challenged with care.
